If you are one of thousands of people this year who will make the life-changing decision to have LASIK Missouri, our team at Brinton Vision wants to provide you with a bucket list of great Show-Me State spots to enjoy with your newfound visual freedom. Here are five must-see spots you won’t want to miss!
- City Museum – What was once the International Shoe building is now an enormous adult-sized playground. Repurposed industrial equipment, including old chimneys, salvaged bridges, and spiral slides are now nearly magical portals to a land not so unlike Willy Wonka’s enchanted factory. There’s so much to see and do at City Museum, and you won’t want to miss a thing! $12. 750 N. 16th St., St. Louis, MO. citymuseum.org
- Johnson’s Shut-Ins – A little over an hour and a half of beautiful drive south of St. Louis, a millennium of wind and water has a wonderland of pools and slides along the east fork of the Black River. Johnson’s Shut-Ins, fueled by cool underground springs, is a beautiful way to enjoy warm summer days now that you don’t have to worry about getting your contacts wet! Taum Sauk Trail, Lesterville, MO. mostateparks.com
- Lemp Mansion – Anhueser-Busch is not the only beer mogul to operate in St. Louis. In the mid-1800s, Western Brewery, later called William J. Lemp Brewery, was the largest brewery in St. Louis, and the largest single-owner brewery in the U.S. outside of New York. Good fortune did not continue to smile upon the Lemp family, however, and generations of suicides have left their share of mystery haunting the mansion. Today the Lemp Mansion has been turned into a restaurant, and is also a great place to visit for haunted and historical tours. You never know what you’ll see walking among you in the halls! 3322 Demenil Pl., St. Louis, MO. lempmansion.com
- Gateway Arch – There are few national symbols so symbolic and recognizable as the Gateway Arch, the tallest man-made monument in the United States. A four-minute ride up the leg of the Arch leads to an observation deck where, on a clear day and with your new clear vision, you can see up to 30 miles in each direction. To the west is a breathtaking view of downtown St. Louis, including the Old Courthouse, Busch Stadium, Ballpark Village and the Edward Jones Dome. To the east is the mighty Mississippi and bridges crossed by dreamers, entrepreneurs, and pioneers of the West. $10-$13. 11 N. 4th St., St. Louis, MO. gatewayarch.com
- Forest Park – The 1,371 acres of St. Louis’s beautiful Forest Park are home to several great attractions, including the Muny outdoor theater, the St. Louis Science Center, St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Zoo, and St. Louis History Museum. Dedicated in 1876, the park hosted the 1904 World’s Fair, known as the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, as well as the diving, swimming, and water polo events for the 1904 Olympics – the first year African Americans were allowed to compete. With bike trails, forested areas, and plenty of spots to park a picnic basket, Forest Park is full of history and mystery, and is an urban refuge that you don’t want to miss! 5595 Grand Dr., St. Louis, MO. forestparkforever.org
