Behind every successful procedure at Brinton Vision is the solid foundation of a comprehensive diagnostic exam. At your first visit, you will undergo a Brinton Vision Ocular Analysis (BVOA), the most advanced and proven panel of assessments available today. This is the first and most critical step in your journey toward visual freedom.
More technology, better diagnostics
Brinton Vision is among only a handful of practices in the United States that uses these seven state-of-the-art technologies to evaluate and map every aspect of your eyes. These tests check your overall eye health and look for potential problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, or cataracts; they also provide our doctors with the information they need to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK plus any of its six modern variations — EVO ICL, SMILE laser eye surgery, Kamra Inlay, PRK, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), and Light Adjustable Lens (LAL).
Are you ready to take the next
step in your vision journey?
What happens at your BVOA?
Your Brinton Vision Ocular Analysis is a 90-minute experience that revolves around you. When you arrive, you will be greeted by a medical technician who will accompany you throughout your visit. They will explain what is happening and answer any questions you have along the way as they walk you through your tests. None of the tests are painful; in fact, the devices are similar to cameras, each taking a picture of your eye from a different point of view.
“There was no paperwork to fill out!
My consultation at Brinton Vision was truly unique.”
Next, you will meet with one of our doctors. You and one of our doctors will review your results and have a comfortable, no-pressure discussion on whether LASIK can help you. Like fingerprints, every eye is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution at Brinton Vision. If you are a good candidate, one of our highly-trained doctors will talk about which procedure(s) can give you lasting vision correction based on your unique pair of eyes.
Returning yearly for future BVOAs
When Dr. Sherman Brinton arrived at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis as an ophthalmologist in the 1940’s, charting was done on a paper. He looked at a patient’s eyes with a microscope and wrote down what he saw for comparison with future exam notes. Brinton Vision now uses a highly sophisticated electronic charting system that saves detailed information on your eyes from a number of sources — including objective measurement sources that don’t rely primarily on human interpretation and estimation. With today’s technology, precise photographs of the curvature of the eye can document thousands of data points that can be compared year over year by your Brinton Vision eye doctor. For all of our surgery patients, one year of follow-up is included in their surgery fee, so the cost of their first Brinton Vision Ocular Analysis after surgery — but prior to the 12 month mark — is waived. Exams after the 1-year follow-up period are charged at our regular health-of-eye BVOA rate of $240, and include meeting with one of our highly-trained eye doctors — Dr. Brinton, Dr. Poore, or Dr. Schmidt — to discuss how you can optimize the long-term health of your eyes.
Remember, whether you wear glasses, contacts, or choose LASIK eye surgery, just because you have clear vision doesn’t mean you don’t need to take care of your eyes. Come see us yearly, long-term, so we can make good on your laser eye surgery investment!
