Contact Lenses at Brinton Vision: Frequently Asked Questions
Do you prescribe contact lenses at Brinton Vision?
No. At Brinton Vision, our specialty is vision correction surgery, not contact lens fitting. Because of this, we do not prescribe contact lenses for long-term use.
Why not?
A safe and effective contact lens prescription requires a professional fitting by an optometrist. This fitting ensures the lenses have the correct overall diameter, base curve, and ocular surface mobility. Without this process, contact lenses can cause irritation or even long-term medical issues with the cornea and eyelids.
Do you ever use contact lenses?
Yes, but only in very specific, short-term situations. We may use them temporarily for surgical purposes or for brief testing (less than two weeks). These are not meant for ongoing vision correction.
What should I do if I want to wear contacts?
If you’d like to correct your vision with contact lenses, you’ll need to see an optometrist who specializes in contact lens fitting. They can fit you properly, prescribe lenses safely, and provide follow-up care to protect your eye health.
